Dominion Voting Methods meets former Trump legal professional Sidney Powell with a defamation lawsuit

Powell had claimed that DVS enabled widespread election fraud in the 2020 elections.

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a defamation lawsuit against Sidney Powell, a former Trump campaign attorney who made a series of bizarre allegations of widespread fraud during the 2020 general election.

Dominion’s lawsuit claims more than $ 1.3 billion in damages, according to the Washington Post. In its complaint on Friday, the company alleged that Powell had damaged its reputation by spreading “wild” and “proven fallible” rumors about its products.

Powell’s core claims include that Dominion directly facilitated election fraud and enabled former Vice President Joe Biden to beat the incumbent Trump in the last election.

Powell publicly accused Dominion of voting and other misconduct, even claiming the company was started with “communist” money donated by the late dictator of Venezuela Hugo Chavez.

In addition to condemning Dominion against the media, Powell also filed lawsuits against several battlefield states that used DVS machines to count ballots.

In its 124-page complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Dominion says its reputation and retail value of the products have declined due to Powell’s “viral disinformation campaign”. Dominion claims that Powell’s lawsuits were only intended to “enrich themselves financially,” “raise their public profile,” and “ingratiate themselves with Donald Trump.”

Dominion is suing Powell, its law firm, and Defending the Republic, an organization Powell founded to solicit funds for their election-related litigation.

Dominion CEO John Poulos said he believed his company would lose hundreds of millions of dollars in profits over the next several years as a direct result of Powell’s inventions.

“We are filing this lawsuit because 300 families have made their living with this company,” Poulos said in a statement. “Words don’t describe the effect. Life was turned upside down. “

“There is mountains of direct evidence that definitively refutes Powell’s tampering claims against Dominion,” the lawsuit said, “namely, the millions of paper votes checked and counted by bipartisan officials and volunteers in Georgia and other swing states, which confirmed this . ” Dominion has accurately counted the votes on paper votes. “

In the complaint, Poulos and his lawyers reported how Dominion employees had faced threats, intimidation and harassment.

“We’re going to blow up your damn building,” one person said in a voicemail on Dominion’s main line.

Tome Clare, an attorney for the company, suggested that Powell and her organization likely won’t be the only people suing them.

“We haven’t excluded anyone,” said Clare. “We are very conscious of everyone’s statements and actions.”

National Public Radio notes that Dominion is considering lawsuits against others, as well as against President Donald Trump himself.
