What we call the beginning is often the end.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
The end is where we start from.
-T. S. Eliot

When I wrote my first movie review for the Jefferson Jimplecute, the newspaper of record for Jefferson, TX, Bob Palmer told me I could only use a quote to start an article once a year. That was 3 years ago, and this is the first time I have started writing an article since that begins with a quote.
This Eliot quote is one of my favorites.
My first day working on the Little River News was July 16, 2019. I saw a significant opportunity with a lot of hard work ahead. I determined that we would make as few changes as possible between July and January in order to fully assess the business and advertising market in Little River County. My hope was to not fix it if it wasn’t broken.
A lot of hard work has been completed and there is still ample opportunity ahead for the Little River News. The biggest accomplishment of the past four months is the current staff, starting with our City Editor, Jessie Smith. Jessie is a native of Little River County and has a degree in journalism from Harding University. She is smart and nice and working with her is fun every day.
Joe Caprano is our graphic artist. We also have a proofer, Patrice Morales, and webmaster, Ena Radenkovic. The Little River News has a first class staff. I hope you have enjoyed the content of the paper and the reliable week-to-week publications.
At this time, I can see that a different solution to publishing the Little River News is a better fit for the county. As such, the Little River News will suspend publication after publishing our November 21 edition in hopes that a new publisher and staff will step forward to resume publication as soon as possible using the Little River News name.
Suspending publication of a weekly newspaper is not an easy decision but it is the responsible business decision.
Please feel free to call us at (870) 667-0108 with any questions you have.
Thank you for reading and supporting the Little River News. I look forward to seeing this newspaper in your hands again after November 21 as soon as possible.
