Ashdown School Board Presents Veterans with High School Diplomas
During the Nov. 11 Ashdown School District Board of Education regular meeting, Superintendent Casey Nichols presented three high school diplomas to U.S. veterans Billy Wayne Adkinson, James Bradshaw and William Booth, who were not able to finish high school due to their military service.
Nichols also reported that bids will open on Nov. 19 for the Ashdown Elementary renovations and construction project. On Dec. 11-13, school board members will attend the annual Arkansas School Boards Association meeting in Little Rock, and Rep. DeAnn Vaught organized a meeting with the Department of Human Services and Ashdown about improving services and communication.
Following an executive session, the Ashdown School District hired Machelle Haskins as cafeteria manager and Shelby Schlomer as a part-time cafeteria worker to finish out the 2019-20 contract year.
Principal Keith Fricks of L.F. Henderson Intermediate School presented Outstanding Character and Work Ethic certificates to Andres Rubio, Audrey Fields and Stormy Ward.
