On November 4, candidates traveled to Little Rock to file for the 2020 elections in the traditional start to the election period. Party filing began at noon, and nonpartisan filing followed at 3 p.m.
Normally, the filing period would end exactly a week later, but since November 11 is Veterans Day, this year’s filing period will end on November 12 at noon for party candidates and 3 p.m. for nonpartisan candidates.
On the first day alone, 165 candidates filed for the 2020 election in Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. The primary election will fall on March 3, 2020, and less than a year from now, the general election is November 3, 2020.
