Harold married Sue Tarpley on April 29, 1960 in Marshall, Texas. Their son, Gene Brown, was born in August 1961. They lived in Shreveport, Louisiana for six years where he was employed by Southwestern Drug Company, which then transferred them to Dallas, Texas. They made Irving, Texas their home until Harold retired from the United States Postal Service in 2001. Harold and Sue moved to central Texas in 2010 to be closer to their two granddaughters, son and daughter-in-law.

Harold enjoyed reconnecting with extended family and friends at yearly Ashdown Alumni Association functions. He had the most friendly personality; friend to many, stranger to none.

He was always present with a helping hand, expecting nothing in return.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Sue Brown of Lake Buchanan, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Debra Brown of Round Rock, Texas; granddaughters,

Bennett Suzanne Brown and Carolina Belle Brown; brothers, Robbie (Faustine) Brown and Danny (Nancy) Brown, sister, Diane (Carroll) McLarty and sister-in-law, Melba Brown.

A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Church of Christ Fellowship Hall in Ashdown.

“Two smiling eyes are sleeping, two hardworking hands were put to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.”
