Our farmer of the week is Charles Hacker of Arden. Charles and with his wife of 55 years, Lawana, own a small orchard where they produce pears, peaches, almonds, pecans, nectarines and apples along with a garden and beehives.
In their front yard, they have a vegetable/fruit stand where they sell tomatoes, watermelons and okra along with surplus fruit and honey. Charles is a retired construction superintendent from EZ-Mart.
Lawana worked for Rose Altenbaumer’s Tax Service for 18 years and has been a member of the Arden Extension Homemaker Club for 41 years. They have a son, David, and one daughter, Patricia, as well as one granddaughter, Ashley. They are members of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
